The Search Committee is happy to announce the calling of Dale Lynn Walling as the interim Senior Minister of First Christian. He will begin his ministry on Sept. 1 with his first Sunday being Sept. 5th. Dale and his wife Linda will be moving to the Topeka area from Garden City, where he just completed an interim ministry in that community. Dale and Linda have four grown sons and are self-proclaimed empty nesters, looking forward to the next phase in their life journey. During his interview, Dale told the Search Committee that he felt a calling into the interim ministry of the Christian Church following a 10-year tenure at First Christian in Pasadena, Texas. Dale considers himself an intentional interim and feels blessed that he can assist churches in transition. Dale and Linda will be in Topeka in the middle of August, looking for a place to rent with the hope of eventually finding a new home within the Topeka-Kansas City area. Dale has agreed to a minimum 12-month interim ministry but has agreed to remain with us until we call our permanent senior minister. Dale is a lifelong Texan but over the last few years some of his family, including his parents, have migrated to the Kansas City area. Dale feels blessed to be able to be closer to them. He is a graduate of Baylor University and received his Master of Divinity from Bright Divinity School at Texas Christian University. This year he celebrates 29 years as an ordained minister in the Disciples of Christ. Linda is semi-retired after 30 years in the human resources field and looks forward to staying connected to her life’s profession.
